Pediatric Dentistry
Dental care for children, from a first visit to the last baby tooth.
A child’s first dental visits set the tone for a lifetime. We keep them short, unhurried and honest, so coming to the dentist is a normal thing rather than something to dread.
Baby teeth matter: they hold space for the adult teeth and they can decay just like any other. Regular visits catch that early, while it is easy to treat.
What to expect
- A gentle first look, at your child's pace.
- A cleaning and a check for early decay.
- Advice for you on brushing, diet and what to watch for.
Cost and insurance
Children's check-ups and cleanings are covered by most family plans. Ask us if you are unsure.
Common questions
When should my child first see a dentist?
Around the first birthday, or within six months of the first tooth appearing. Early visits are short and mostly about getting comfortable.
My child is nervous. What do you do?
We go slowly, explain everything in plain words, and stop if they need a break. The children's room at Kearny is set up to feel less like a clinic.
