Dental Implants
A permanent replacement for a missing tooth, anchored in the jaw so it looks, feels and works like your own.
An implant is a small titanium post placed in the jaw where a tooth used to be. Once it has bonded with the bone, a crown is fitted on top. The result is a tooth you can chew with, brush like the others, and forget about.
Implants are Dr. Tinawi’s focus. He has placed them for more than thirty years and teaches the technique to other dentists, so the planning and placement are done here, in our own offices, by someone who does this every week.
If you are missing one tooth, several, or a full row, an implant-based option exists for each. The consultation is where we work out which one fits you.
What to expect
- A consultation and X-rays to check the bone and plan the placement.
- Placement of the implant post, usually in one visit under local anesthetic.
- A healing period of a few months while the implant bonds with the bone.
- Fitting of the final crown, matched to your other teeth.
Cost and insurance
Coverage for implants varies widely between plans. Call the office with your insurance details and we will tell you what to expect before anything is scheduled.
Common questions
Does getting an implant hurt?
The placement is done under local anesthetic, so you should feel pressure but not pain. Most people manage the days afterward with over-the-counter pain relief.
How long does an implant last?
With normal brushing, flossing and regular check-ups, an implant can last for decades. The crown on top may need replacing sooner, like any crown.
Can I get an implant if I lost the tooth years ago?
Often, yes. If the bone has thinned, a small graft may be needed first. The X-rays at your consultation will show whether that applies to you.
